Mike at B&B Plumbing is West Roxbury's neighborhood plumber, based at 2 Glenhaven Rd and licensed in Massachusetts (#16415). When your call comes from 02132, the truck is usually minutes away, not towns away.
West Roxbury is one of Boston's great streetcar suburbs, and its housing shows it. Nearly half the homes here were built before 1940: Queen Anne Victorians, Tudors, Dutch Colonials, and center entrance Colonials along streets like Willow, Weld, and the lanes off Centre Street. Houses of that era were plumbed with galvanized steel supply lines and cast iron drains, and a remarkable number of them still run on those original systems today.
That age profile drives the work we do here. Galvanized pipe corrodes shut from the inside, which is why so many West Roxbury second floor showers run weak. Cast iron stacks crack and leak into walls. Stone foundation basements seep groundwater every spring, steam and hot water radiator systems need someone who actually understands them, and the black iron gas lines feeding decades old boilers are rusting at their threads. This is not exotic work for us. It is Tuesday.
Being based in the neighborhood changes what service looks like. Mike knows which streets flood, which housing styles hide their shutoff valves where, and what the inspectional services department expects on permits. When a pipe bursts at 2 AM in 02132, help is not coming from three towns over. It is coming from up the street.
Same day tank replacement and repairs for the aging heaters in West Roxbury basements.
Steam and hot water systems are the norm in these older homes, and we service both.
Original galvanized and cast iron replaced before it fails inside your walls.
Root bound clay lines under tree lined streets cleared and honestly assessed.
Licensed gas line replacement and appliance hookups, pressure tested every time.
Stone foundation basements kept dry in spring and pipes protected through the winter.
Read the reviews. Punctuality comes up in nearly every one, because a plumber who respects your schedule respects you.
You hear what is wrong, what it costs, and what your options are before any work starts. No mystery invoices.
Old parts, packaging, and mess leave with the truck. Your basement looks the way it did, minus the problem.

Many do. Nearly half the housing stock predates 1940, and homes of that era often still carry original galvanized supply lines and cast iron drains. Those materials are behind most of the low pressure and leak calls in 02132.
